Students at the University of Houston at Sugar Land (UHSL) have long felt disconnected from the broader UH community, often due to extended commutes, overlapping class schedules, and missed opportunities to engage in events and organizations centered at the main campus.
On the other side, many students at UH Main are unaware of the growth, innovation, and vibrant student life happening at UHSL. This lack of visibility contributes to a persistent stigma: that UHSL is simply a satellite campus with little community or culture. In reality, the DIGM program and other departments at UHSL have cultivated an incredible creative network, one that deserves to be seen and celebrated.
The Landline was created as both a solution and a platform: a monthly editorial designed to highlight UHSL’s accomplishments, student voices, organizations, and sense of community.
Together, this project aims to close the gap, raising awareness, fostering connection, and reframing how UHSL is seen by students, faculty, and the greater Sugar Land community.
